Outer Ring Road: Connectivity Guide

Featured Image of Outer Ring Road: Connectivity Guide

Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road links Hebbal, Hennur, KR Puram, Marathahalli, Bellandur and Central Silk Board. The roughly 60 km road serves the north, east, south and west of the city. It also connects to airport-bound NH 44, Old Madras Road, Hosur Road and other major routes.

Outer Ring Road connectivity depends on the junction you need. Hebbal serves the Bellary Road and airport approach, KR Puram provides access towards Whitefield, and Silk Board connects with Hosur Road. The planned Blue Line adds a 19.75 km metro section from Central Silk Board to KR Puram, with 13 stations.

Bengaluru Outer Ring Road Route and Key Junctions

ORR is a city road with busy junctions, service roads and local access points. It is not an expressway with access only at fixed ramps. Even a short trip can have signals and queues. You may need a turn to reach the right side of a building.

The eastern arc runs through the Hebbal–Nagawara–Hennur–KR Puram–Marathahalli–Bellandur–Silk Board network. Other sections serve the south and west of the city. Start with the junction nearest to your destination, then check the last road to the gate.

This is a junction guide, not a list of fixed travel times. The best turn depends on which way you travel and the gate you need.

ORR Connectivity to Hebbal and Bengaluru Airport

At Hebbal, ORR meets Bellary Road/NH 44. This is a key link for airport trips. From the east, head towards Hebbal through the Hennur and Nagawara side. From Hebbal, the route continues north on the airport corridor.

Set Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 as the destination. The airport edge is not the terminal. Nearby hotels have their own routes too. Allow time for drop-off, check-in and flight checks. Distance alone does not tell you when to leave for a flight.

Hennur to Outer Ring Road Access

Hennur Main Road connects with ORR at Hennur Junction. From there, the road network leads west towards Nagawara and Hebbal, or east towards Horamavu and KR Puram. These routes serve jobs in the north and east.

Hennur to ORR distance varies by street. A flat near the junction and one farther towards Kothanur have different approach trips. Check the trip from the home gate to ORR. Include turns and the service road.

Outer Ring Road Access to IT Parks

Manyata Business Park is at Nagawara on the Hebbal ORR side. The Bellandur–Kadubeesanahalli belt serves office campuses farther south-east, including Embassy TechVillage. These hubs share an ORR address pattern, but they are not next to each other.

For an ORR office trip, use your block and gate. Arrive on the wrong side and you may face a long turn. Staff buses, cabs and cars may use different gates. Check the right one for your trip.

KR Puram, Marathahalli and Whitefield Connectivity

KR Puram and Marathahalli are key points for trips between ORR and Whitefield. Choose the turn based on your destination. Kadugodi, ITPL and Brookefield need different routes. A broad Whitefield pin can miss the right road.

From northern ORR, compare the KR Puram approach first. From the Bellandur side, routes through the Marathahalli network may suit some addresses. Check the live route at your usual travel hour. One junction is not always faster.

ORR to Sarjapur Road and Electronic City

Ibbalur links the eastern ORR belt with Sarjapur Road. It is a key turn for homes and offices along that corridor. Central Silk Board links ORR with Hosur Road, which continues towards Electronic City.

Check the last turn on both routes. A campus gate on a service road can need a different turn from the main-road pin. For Electronic City, compare the surface and elevated roads. Tolls and exit points can differ.

Outer Ring Road Metro Connectivity

BMRCL’s Phase 2A plan covers 19.75 km between Central Silk Board and KR Puram, with 13 stations. Phase 2B continues from KR Puram towards the airport through Hebbal. Together, the approved corridors cover 58.19 km.

The Blue Line will add rail links along the ORR–airport belt. Do not assume that a station under construction is open. Check that trains are running and find the right entry gate. Add the walk or ride from the station to work.

Bus Travel Along Outer Ring Road

BMTC runs buses on major parts of ORR. Regular and AC buses serve different routes. Many ORR buses use 500-series route numbers. Each suffix can change the route. Check the current route and destination board before boarding.

Choose the correct side of the road for the stop. On a divided road, a nearby bus shelter may serve the opposite direction. Add the walk, wait and last transfer. Compare that full time with a cab or staff bus.

ORR, Peripheral Ring Road and STRR: The Difference

Bengaluru Outer Ring Road is the existing urban route discussed in this guide. Peripheral Ring Road, also called the Bengaluru Business Corridor project, is a separate outer-road scheme. STRR is a wider road network outside the city.

These are not names for the same road. A property advertised near a future outer route may have no direct access to today’s ORR. Ask for the exact junction and current approach road.

SOBHA Homes in the Hennur Road Locality

For buyers seeking a proposed SOBHA project in Hennur, Sobha Hennur Road is one option to assess. Its stated location is Hennur Main Road, with a planned 50-acre development and 1, 2, 3 and 4 BHK homes.

The relevant Outer Ring Road connection is the Hennur road network. Its site gate is not yet confirmed. The exact distance to ORR is still to be measured. Check the final site route against your trip to work.

FAQs

No. It is an urban ring road with junctions, local access and service-road sections.

Hennur Junction provides the connection with Hennur Main Road.

KR Puram and Marathahalli provide road approaches towards different parts of Whitefield. The final route depends on the address.

Do not treat the planned line as fully open. Check BMRCL’s current operating map for the stretch you need.
